Delaware Apostille & Document Authentication
Delaware corporate filings and personal records have different preparation needs. First identify whether the document is an official record or a privately signed notarized document.
Check eligibility
The Division of Corporations authenticates eligible Delaware official or notarial signatures. Publicly recorded documents need official copies from the issuing state or county official and are not notarized. Each Secretary of State filing needs separate certification; a combined one-cover certification is unacceptable. Delaware expressly excludes remote or electronic notarizations, ordinary photocopies, foreign-issued and federal documents.
Personal submission packet
Send the eligible document and cover memo naming the purpose and destination country to Division of Corporations, 401 Federal Street, Suite 4, Dover, DE 19901. Arrange payment and include a prepaid return envelope if special return delivery is needed.
Corporate certificates
Identify each requested filing or certificate in the corporate request memo. Include contact details, destination country and payment; use the Division’s current certification-request instructions.
Foreign-language documents
Delaware requires an English translation and notarization of both language versions. Confirm preparation with the Division where official public records are involved; do not add notarization to those records.
Premier service estimate
Other-state service is typically 5–7 business days. Shipping is additional; corrections and authority delays can change completion.
