Holiday Closure Notice: Plan Ahead for Your Notary & Apostille Needs Before Independence Day Weekend

A Heads-Up for the Upcoming Holiday Weekend

Hello, St. Louis! With the warmth of summer in full swing, the Fourth of July weekend is just around the corner. It’s a wonderful time for barbecues, fireworks, and celebrating with family and friends. Here at Premier Notary & Apostille Services, we’re looking forward to the festivities, and we want to ensure you are fully prepared for any important document needs you might have during this time.

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, our office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, 2026. We will resume our normal business hours on Monday, July 6th. We’re sharing this notice well in advance because we know that many of the documents we handle are incredibly time-sensitive. A single day’s delay, especially around a holiday weekend, can have a ripple effect. This post is our community-first way of helping you plan ahead and avoid any unnecessary stress.

Why Planning Ahead is Crucial for Notarizations and Apostilles

You might be thinking, “It’s just one day, what’s the big deal?” When it comes to official documents, especially those destined for international use, every moment counts. Many processes, like real estate closings, international business agreements, or applications for studying abroad, operate on strict deadlines. Missing a deadline by even a day can complicate matters significantly.

This is especially true for apostille services. An apostille is a specialized certification that authenticates a document for use in foreign countries that are part of the Hague Apostille Convention. The process isn't instantaneous; it involves multiple steps and coordination with government agencies. Here’s a typical journey for a document requiring an apostille:

    • Step 1: Proper Notarization. Your document must be correctly notarized by a commissioned Notary Public. Any error here can halt the entire process.
    • Step 2: County Clerk Verification (if required). Some documents require the notary’s signature to be verified by the County Clerk where they are commissioned.
    • Step 3: Secretary of State Authentication. The document is then sent to the Missouri Secretary of State’s office, which reviews everything and attaches the official apostille certificate.

It’s important to remember that we aren’t the only ones observing the holiday. Government offices, including the Secretary of State, will also be closed. Our closure on Friday, combined with the government holiday, means that a document dropped off late in the week might not even begin its official processing until the following Monday or Tuesday. This can turn a one-day office closure into a three or four-day delay in your timeline.

Common Scenarios: Don't Let the Holiday Catch You Off Guard

To help you prepare, let’s look at a few common situations where planning ahead is essential:

    1. The International Student

A St. Louis area student is preparing for a semester in Spain. The university requires their birth certificate and university transcripts to be apostilled. The deadline for submission is mid-July. Getting these documents to us the week of the holiday could mean missing the window for the Secretary of State to process and return them in time for international shipping.

Our Advice: If you're a student or parent in this situation, bring your documents to us no later than the third week of June. This provides a comfortable buffer to navigate the entire apostille process without the added pressure of a looming holiday.

    2. The Business Professional

An executive is finalizing a partnership with a company in Germany. The signed power of attorney needs to be notarized and apostilled before it can be legally recognized overseas. The deal is set to close the second week of July. A delay could jeopardize the transaction.

Our Advice: For corporate documents, time is money. We recommend scheduling a mobile notary appointment early in the week of June 29th. This ensures we can get your document notarized and submitted for its apostille with ample time before offices close for the long weekend.

    3. The Family Finalizing an Adoption

A family is working through the beautiful but complex process of an international adoption. They need various vital records, such as marriage and birth certificates, apostilled for the foreign government. These documents are the key to bringing their child home.

Our Advice: The stakes couldn't be higher. We treat these documents with the utmost care and urgency. Please contact us as soon as you have your paperwork in hand. We’ll help you create a clear timeline that accounts for the holiday closure, ensuring everything stays on track for your family's journey.

Our Commitment to You and Our Community

As your St. Louis neighbors, our goal is to be a reliable, expert resource you can count on. We believe that part of being a helpful partner is providing the information you need to make your life easier. This advance notice is part of that commitment. We want to see you succeed, whether that means closing on your new home, expanding your business globally, or starting a new chapter of your life abroad.

Our dedicated team will be taking this time to rest and celebrate with their own families. We believe that a well-rested team is a more focused and effective team when we return to serving you.

    Let's Get Your Documents Sorted!

To ensure your documents are handled before the holiday, please plan to visit us or schedule a mobile notary appointment by Thursday, July 2nd, 2026. We will be ready and waiting to assist you when we reopen on Monday, July 6th, 2026.

Don’t wait until the last minute! Take a look at your calendar, check your deadlines, and reach out to us today. We’re here to answer your questions and help you navigate the process with confidence and ease.

From all of us at Premier Notary & Apostille Services, we wish you and yours a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day weekend!
