Apostille Services for Greece: U.S. Documents, Powers of Attorney and Property Matters

Using a U.S.-issued document in Greece? The correct apostille depends on where the document was issued or notarized, and the receiving authority's requirements. We help coordinate U.S. authentication and tracked return delivery.

    Does Greece accept apostilles?

Greece and the United States are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention. Eligible U.S. public documents generally use an apostille rather than consular legalization. The apostille authenticates a public signature or seal; it does not establish that the document's contents satisfy Greek law.

Powers of attorney for Greek property and legal matters

Greek notaries, attorneys, banks and land registries may prescribe exact power-of-attorney language, identification details, witnesses or execution formalities. Obtain the recipient's approved draft and confirm whether a U.S. notarization and apostille will be accepted before signing.

If a Greek notary requests a protocol number, page-by-page stamps, a particular signature block or other formatting, resolve those instructions before execution. A U.S. apostille does not correct an improperly executed power of attorney.

Marriage, birth, education and business documents

Common requests include U.S. birth and marriage certificates, corporate records, notarized declarations, diplomas and transcripts. Vital records generally need a certified copy from the issuing office. Academic documents may require school certification and notarization depending on the receiving authority.

Which U.S. office issues the apostille?

State-issued records and documents notarized by a state notary generally go through that state's designated apostille authority. Federal documents such as FBI background checks follow the federal authentication process. A Greek authority does not issue an apostille for a U.S.-issued document.

    Translations and document delivery

The Greek recipient may require an official Greek translation and may specify who is authorized to prepare or certify it. Confirm translation sequencing with the recipient before processing. We can review the document type, coordinate eligible U.S. apostilles and arrange tracked shipping.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can a U.S. power of attorney be used in Greece?

Potentially, but the Greek recipient must confirm its wording, execution and translation requirements before you sign.

Does the apostille replace a Greek translation?

No. An apostille authenticates a public signature or seal. The recipient may separately require a Greek translation.

Can I submit a photocopy of a birth certificate?

A certified copy from the issuing vital-records authority is generally required; an ordinary photocopy is not equivalent.

Where is a Missouri notarized document apostilled?

Generally by the Missouri Secretary of State, subject to document eligibility.

Will a Greek authority apostille my U.S. diploma?

No. Authentication of a U.S.-issued document is handled by the appropriate U.S. state or federal authority.
