Philippines Apostille & Document Authentication
For the Philippines, first separate a U.S. record being presented there from a Philippine record needed abroad. The Philippine DFA’s electronic services apply to specific Philippine documents, not to every record in a client’s file.
Philippine-issued documents
The DFA publishes separate documentary requirements by record type. Its May 2026 notice describes fully online apostille processing for PSA eCertificates and CHED eCAVs, with electronic apostilles delivered by email. Check that your exact record qualifies before choosing an electronic route.
For a representative submission, consult the DFA application instructions for authorization and identification requirements. Do not assume that possession of the original alone authorizes someone to submit it.
U.S. documents intended for the Philippines
A U.S. birth record or notarized instrument uses its U.S. issuing jurisdiction. A Philippine electronic-document portal does not replace that route. Provide the Philippine recipient’s checklist so the record format and any translation can be reviewed.
Before sending your file
Identify whether the recipient accepts an electronic document or expects a paper original. Ask about certified copies, translation language, and any document-age restrictions. These are questions for the specific receiving office, not universal Philippine rules.
Frequently asked questions
Can every Philippine document receive an electronic apostille?
Do not assume so. The verified DFA notice specifically identifies PSA eCertificates and CHED eCAVs; check the current requirements for other records.
Does an electronic apostille certify a U.S. record?
The Philippine service described here concerns Philippine-issued records. U.S. records require their own origin-based authentication route.
